Meet the Presenters of Sonoma Couples Workshops
Michael Basta, L.C.S.W. and Marcia J. Gómez, L.C.S.W. are the Certified Gottman Method Couples Therapists who operate Sonoma Couples Workshops. Read below to learn more about the presenters.
Marcia J. Gómez, L.C.S.W. - LCS 18514
is originally from Chile. She received her masters degree from U.C.Berkeley. She has been practicing psychotherapy for over fifteen years in the United States. She has extensive training and practice in Individual Psychodynamic Therapy as well as Structural Family Therapy. Marcia has a successful private practice and works exclusively with couples. She was trained directly by John and Julie Gottman, co-founders of the Gottman Institute dedicated to researching and restoring relationships. Marcia worked with the Gottman's on the curriculum "Loving Couples, Loving Children" for Spanish-speaking couples. Currently, she is a consultant for the Gottman Institute Certification Program.
MICHAEL BASTA, L.C.S.W. - LCS 12967
is a psychotherapist and Certified Gottman Method Couples Therapist, Master Trainer, and Consultant who was directly trained by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, co-founders of the Gottman Institute dedicated to researching and restoring relationships. He received his graduate degree from U.C. Berkeley School of Social Welfare. He has worked in the mental health field since 1983 with individuals, couples, families, and groups. He has also supervised interns and provided training in couples and family therapy to numerous mental health professionals. He currently maintains a successful private practice in Sonoma County, CA.

The workshops are offered in Rohnert Park, CA, which is in Northern California (NorCal) in the Sonoma Wine Country-the northern most portion of the San Francisco Bay Area.
These workshops primarily serve the counties of Marin County, Sonoma County, Napa County, Lake County, Mendocino County, Solano County, Contra Costa County, Alameda County, Santa Clara County, San Mateo County, Santa Cruz County, San Benito County, Monterey County, Alpine County, Amador County, Butte County, Calaveras County, Colusa County, Del Norte County, El Dorado County, Fresno County, Glenn County, Humboldt County, Kern County, Lake County, Lassen County, Modoc County, Nevada County, Placer County, Plumas County, Sacramento County, Shasta County, Sierra County, Siskiyou County, Sutter County, Tehama County, Trinity County, Yolo County, Yuba County, and San Francisco County.

Additionally, the Couples Workshop/Retreat serves the Central Valley of California including the cities of Sacramento, Redding, Stockton, Modesto, Fresno, and Bakersfield.
Couples are more than welcome to attend from outside of these regions, throughout California and out of state,. Often couples arriving from out of state from cities such as Portland, Oregon; Las Vegas or Reno, Nevada; Phoenix orTucson, Arizona; Salt Lake City, Utah; Boise, Idaho; Denver, Colorado; or Albuquerque, New Mexico add extra time to their stay so that they can enjoy the beautiful Sonoma Wine Country (not to mention the other regions of the Northern California's Wine Country-Napa and Mendocino- and the Golden Gate National Recreational Area - GGNRA, Muir Woods, Mount Tamalpais-the Russian River area, Bodega Bay, the majestic redwoods of the Avenue of the Giants, and the sights and culture of San Francisco (such as the Golden Gate Bridge, museums, restaurants, Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, and North Beach).
